Accepting what you cannot control and deciding to move forward

When you’re ready to start, it doesn’t matter where you are.
Whether you’re a CEO or a stay-at-home mom, if you’re ready to start—start!
It may sound like the one thing that most people don’t like to hear, but it’s true: no matter where you are in your life right now—with all of your current advantages and disadvantages—if you decide to start, you will build internal power.
But to start, you must be clear about the current season of your life. Sometimes admitting where we are is difficult because we don't like acknowledging that our life didn't work out as planned or that we were probably right about something. Somewhere along the way, life happened, and we got lost in the cycle of just doing things instead of living them out entirely. We stopped living and started merely going through the motions until some milestone or goal was complete. Our lives became about goals and milestones and less about experiences and living in the moment.
It’s not until we reach our breaking point that we evaluate what life means to us. Learn to live now instead of waiting on a perfect moment.
Below are some ways to take control of your life regardless of circumstance:
Be present and aware of your current reality.
Stop trying to run away from it; instead, be present with what is happening right now so that you can find meaning in everything.
Decide to be happy.
Happiness is a choice. We are all born with the ability to choose how we want to feel and what we want to think. We can choose to be happy, or we can choose not to be. Whether you’re depressed or not, happiness is a state of mind that you can train yourself into.
But how do you get started?
Well, first off, you have to
Decide what role happiness plays in your life.
Do you want to be at the forefront of it, or are you too busy making other people happy? Once you answer this question, it’s time to define what success means to you. Listen to your inner voice and notice what excites and dissatisfies you.
Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your inner voice.
Sometimes we know exactly what we want in our lives, and we’re just afraid of how others will react if we go for it!
Finally, accept what you can and cannot control: the skin color you were born into, the family members in your life, etcetera. You can’t control these things—but plenty of things in life are within our control!
You can decide what success means for YOU—and then go out into the world and achieve it. You’re moment because you understand that you can change that anytime. It won’t happen overnight, but it can, and it will give you time and grace.
