3 Things You Can Do Right Now That'll Help You Let Go Of What's Holding You Back
If you're looking for a new way to live, we have an idea: start by letting go.
Letting go of the things you cannot control is one of the most important skills you can learn in life. It's also one of the hardest things to do. But when you do it, you'll be able to live a life that is truly yours—the one that makes sense for only YOU.
When we started Style Sense, our mission was always to help fashion stylist live their best lives and make their dreams come true. But as we've grown, so has our understanding of what it means to live your best life. For us, that means not just loving what we do but also looking for meaning in everything we commit ourselves to.
And now? every single day, we wake up knowing that every decision we make comes back to this purpose: helping people find meaning in their lives by connecting them with their passions and helping them turn those passions into profit-making businesses.
Here are some tips for letting go:
Stop comparing yourself to others
While it's okay to be inspired by other people's successes, it's also important to remember that everyone has their own path. You don't need to be doing what they're doing in order for your life to be successful and meaningful.
Stop doing things out of obligation instead of desire.
Are there things that you do because you feel like you should? Or because someone else wants you to? If you're not really into it, then why are you doing it? Do something that brings you joy—that's where the magic happens. Remember: Life is short! Don't waste it playing by someone else's rules.
Stop spending time with people who drain your energy or bring negativity into your life.
This one can be hard, but it's worth it in the end—the sooner you start distancing yourself from negative people and influences in your life, the sooner you'll be able to focus on what matters most: YOU!
Make a decision to stay true to your values and let go of your need to please everyone.
This means doing things that are important for YOU instead of doing what other people think is important for YOU—even if those other people happen to be family members or close friends!
Make a decision to change.
If you’re not sure what to do or where to start, then we encourage you to be still. Spend more time being aware of what is going on in your current life. Awareness is scary and most of us like to pretend like we don’t know what is going on. Being open and accepting of your current life will indeed help you get one step closer to changing yourself for the better.
Nobody makes it to the top alone. You need a support network—people to advise you, coach you, cheer for you, and give you a heads-up when you’re about to make a costly mistake.
